Lindsay Stepien Leigh, Director of Orchestras - Shepton High School, Plano ISD 

       

        Now in her 15th year as a public school orchestra educator, Mrs. Leigh is passionate about helping students pursue musical excellence while developing confidence, leadership, and a lifelong appreciation for music. She believes the most successful orchestra programs are built on a foundation of high expectations, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to artistic growth.

        Before joining Plano ISD, Mrs. Leigh served as Head Orchestra Director at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo ISD and later taught in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Throughout her career, she has taught beginning through advanced orchestras and has prepared students for successful performances at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest, and All-Region Orchestra auditions. Under her direction, students have also qualified for the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest, reflecting her commitment to developing both individual musicianship and ensemble excellence. Mrs. Leigh earned her Bachelor of Music Education from West Texas A&M University and her Master of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.

        As Director of Orchestras at Shepton High School, Mrs. Leigh is excited to build upon the program’s tradition of excellence while fostering a collaborative and welcoming environment where every student can thrive. She enjoys programming engaging orchestral literature that challenges students both technically and musically while inspiring creativity, teamwork, and expressive performance. Outside the classroom, Mrs. Leigh enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, Ryan. She also treasures every opportunity to visit with their adult daughters, Connor and Amelia, and GrandCat, Cricket.
